Admin & Permissions

By the end of this page, you’ll be able to tell apart two things that both sound like “being an admin” in Tickets, but control very different parts of the product.

1. Discord server admin

If you have the Manage Server permission on a Discord server, that server shows up in your Your Discord Servers list, and you can open its full dashboard: Settings, Ticket Panels, Multi-Panels, Tickets, Staff Teams, and Blacklist. This is the permission that gets an admin into a server’s dashboard at all - it doesn’t by itself make someone support staff for that server’s tickets (see the next section).

2. Support team membership

Being on a staff team assigned to a panel is what makes someone support staff for tickets opened through that panel - it’s what lets them claim/close tickets and what the /claim, /close, and /remove-user commands check. A Discord server admin isn’t automatically on any team; conversely, someone can be valuable support staff (on a team) without having Manage Server at all. Most servers add their admins to a team anyway, but the two permissions are independent, and it’s worth setting teams up deliberately rather than assuming admin = support access.

Until recently, support team membership only mattered inside Discord itself - a team member with no Manage Server permission couldn’t log into the web dashboard at all. See the next section for what changed.

3. Team dashboard access (opt-in)

A server admin can turn on Team Dashboard Access from Settings, in the “Team Dashboard Access” section. It’s off by default, so nothing changes for a server unless its admin explicitly enables it.

Once enabled, a support team member who is not a Discord server admin can log into the web dashboard too - but they only ever get a scoped Tickets view, not the full dashboard an admin sees:

• They can view, claim, close, and reply to tickets, but only for panels their team supports - a team assigned to one panel never sees tickets from another panel, let alone the whole server.
• Everything else - Settings, Ticket Panels, Multi-Panels, Staff Teams, Blacklist, guild-wide stats - stays admin-only. A team member who tries to reach one of those pages directly is redirected back to their Tickets view.

This is purely additive to Discord-side team membership: it doesn’t change what /claim, /close, or /remove-user do in Discord, and doesn’t require re-adding anyone to a team. It’s just a second way in for people who are already on a team.
